Overview
BlendDeck is a remote-control companion app for Blender, developed and published by Snail Space Studios. This policy explains what information the BlendDeck Android app accesses, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.
BlendDeck has no accounts, analytics, advertising, or tracking. Its optional license check processes only the information needed to verify a Google Play entitlement, and the BlendDeck service does not retain per-request data.
How BlendDeck works
BlendDeck connects to a small server running inside the BlendDeck add-on on your computer. The connection is made directly over USB tethering or your local Wi-Fi/LAN network.
Button presses, slider and dial values, layouts, and live Blender state travel only between your Android device and your computer. They do not pass through servers operated by Snail Space Studios. The Google Play license check described below is the only exception.
Google Play license verification
When license verification is enabled, BlendDeck requests an encrypted Play Integrity token from Google Play and sends that token, together with a request hash, to the BlendDeck verification service over HTTPS. The service sends the token to the Google Play Integrity API for decoding and uses the returned licensing verdict only to determine whether Google Play recognizes the app as licensed.
The request also necessarily exposes your network IP address to the service infrastructure. BlendDeck uses it only for short-lived abuse prevention. The verification service runs on Cloudflare infrastructure, and Google processes the integrity token and app, device, and license signals needed to provide the Play Integrity service.
The BlendDeck service does not log or persist integrity tokens, request hashes, IP addresses, licensing verdicts, or timestamps. A salted, non-reversible value derived from the IP address is held in server memory for no more than approximately one minute solely to rate-limit abusive traffic, then discarded. No license-check information is used for analytics, advertising, profiling, or marketing.
Other data and permissions
Network access
BlendDeck requests Android's INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions to establish the local connection to the BlendDeck add-on and, when enabled, to perform the limited Google Play license check described above.
App content and settings
Canvases, widgets, macros, connection details, and settings you create are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Snail Space Studios does not receive or have access to this information.
Collection and sharing
We do not sell user data or share it for advertising. Apart from the ephemeral license-verification processing described above, BlendDeck does not collect personal or sensitive user data. BlendDeck does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, account creation, or crash-reporting services.
Security
License-verification requests are encrypted in transit with HTTPS, strictly limited in size and frequency, and processed without application-level request logging. Your creative content remains on the local connection you initiate and in Android's private app storage. You should use a trusted local network and keep your device, computer, Blender installation, and BlendDeck add-on up to date.
Retention and deletion
Your locally created BlendDeck data remains on your device until you change or remove it. You can delete it by clearing the app's storage in Android settings or by uninstalling the app. License-verification data is processed only to complete the request and is not written by BlendDeck to a database, file, analytics system, or other persistent store. The short-lived in-memory rate-limit value expires automatically, so Snail Space Studios has no retained user record to retrieve or delete.
Children's privacy
BlendDeck is a creative utility for Blender users and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly retain personal information from children or any other user. The same limited, ephemeral license-verification process applies to all users.
Changes to this policy
If BlendDeck's data practices change, we will update this policy and its “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected here before or when the relevant app update is released.
